The General Staff Has Not Made Proposals Regarding the Mobilization of Women into the Armed Forces

The General Staff has made no proposals or initiatives regarding the mobilization of women into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said MP Solomiya Bobrovska.

According to her, the mobilization of women off the streets is not planned. Instead, they are encouraged to gain experience in case of a renewed war against Ukraine.

According to the MP, this is a way to prepare society for possible military challenges.

However, women aged 18-25 must undergo basic military training or join a military department and become liable for military service, added Bobrovska.

MP Bezhulia Supports the Mobilization of Women

MP Maryana Bezhulia also supports the mobilization of women and believes that there is currently unlawful discrimination against men in Ukraine.

According to her, if women are mobilized into the army, fewer men will be mobilized.

Earlier, Oleksandr Fedienko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, stated that there are many vacancies in the Ukrainian army that need people. He emphasized that no one will force women against their will to take up arms and sit in trenches.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny stated that the mobilization of women in Ukraine is unacceptable and can only be carried out in extreme necessity.

Furthermore, employers prefer women due to difficulties with reserving men because of mobilization.
