Ukraine's Mobilization Pool Could Be Depleted Within 18 Months, Lawmaker Warns.
Systemic Mobilization Policy Lacking in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian MP Ruslan Horbenko has stated that the country lacks a comprehensive, systemic state policy for mobilization. He emphasized that this issue requires a holistic approach, as there are significant problems in mobilization preparedness. The core issue, according to Horbenko, remains the absence of a clear and integrated state strategy in this critical area.
The lawmaker warned that the nation's mobilization resources are projected to last only for approximately another year and a half. This assessment comes as Ukraine continues to defend itself against a full-scale invasion. In this context, Horbenko also highlighted a new government decree, effective from August 2025, which permits men aged 18 to 22 to travel abroad.
Urgent Need to Revise Mobilization Strategies
Furthermore, he pointed to the substantial number of young men—estimated between 40,000 and 60,000—who have already left the country. These figures underscore the urgent need to revise Ukraine's mobilization approaches. Without an effective policy in this sphere, the country could face severe challenges in sustaining its defense efforts in the future.
The issue of mobilization in Ukraine is becoming increasingly critical given the current security situation.
Ruslan Horbenko
The existence of a clear action plan and a systemic policy in this area could significantly impact the nation's ability to respond to external threats. Given the new travel rules for young men, there is a tangible risk of losing vital human resources, which could complicate the situation should a large-scale mobilization become necessary.
