The Moscow Church continues illegal construction on the territory of the Pochaev Lavra.
The Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate continued unauthorized construction
The Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate, located in the Holy Assumption Pochaev Lavra, continued construction without adhering to the conditions set by the commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. This was reported by Vasyl Ilchyshyn, director of the Kremenets-Pochaev reserve, and a member of the commission.
According to Ilchyshyn, the monastery arbitrarily interfered with the structure of the monument, destroying the historical square and interfering with archaeological and architectural values. He emphasized that such actions are a violation of the terms of the agreement and monument protection legislation.
Materials about unauthorized construction were sent to the Ministry of Culture for response. Recall that the commission of the Ministry of Culture is investigating the preservation status of the Pochaev Lavra structures, which is used by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
It is noteworthy that the monastery in the Pochaev Lavra was handed over for free use by the Moscow Patriarchate for 49 years, but it seems not all conditions were met.
