New Leadership Appointments at Ukraine's Ministry of Defense

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved Mstyslav Banik as the new Deputy Minister of Defense, while Yuriy Myronenko has been appointed as the Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense. According to Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Banik brings combat experience to the role and voluntarily enlisted in the military in 2024. Prior to this, he worked at the Ministry of Digital Transformation and moved to the Defense Ministry in 2025 to lead digital product development.

Responsibilities of the New Officials

In his new capacity, Banik will oversee procurement reform. Fedorov emphasized that the goal is to make military procurement for Ukraine's armed forces the most transparent and efficient in the world. He also stated that the new deputy minister must conduct regular assessments of how implemented solutions perform in practice, providing a basis for swift adjustments to policies and plans.

Yuriy Myronenko, in his role as Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense, will also play a key part in ensuring the defense agency operates effectively. These appointments are part of broader efforts to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities amid ongoing challenges.

The moves come as Ukraine continues reforming its Defense Ministry, a critical step toward improving military procurement management and ensuring transparency in budget spending. With the ongoing conflict and the need to modernize the armed forces, these officials are tasked with helping Ukraine adapt to evolving conditions and threats. These changes reflect a push to bring more accountability and efficiency to defense operations.
