Ukraine's Foreign Ministry firmly rejected the idea of temporary occupation of part of the territory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made an official statement regarding rumors about the possibility of temporarily leaving part of Ukrainian territory under occupation. In a comment published on September 24, 2024, the MFA stated the inadmissibility of such proposals.
The Ministry emphasized that the withdrawal of Russian occupying forces from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders is a mandatory condition of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula. According to the MFA, this formula is the key to "comprehensive, just, and lasting peace" not only for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe and the world.
"There can be no half-measures when it comes to human lives, freedom, shared values, justice for Russian crimes, and the restoration of international peace and security," the statement emphasized.
The MFA warns that temporary solutions will not stop the war, but will only postpone it.
The Ministry called on the international community to unite to implement the Peace Formula and increase pressure on Russia to force it to "just peace, the liberation of Ukrainian territories, and respect for international law." The MFA shares the belief that this scenario is realistic and can be implemented with joint efforts.
Let us recall, Petr Pavel stated that neither Ukraine nor Russia will achieve their maximum goals in the war.
