A new crossing point will start working on the border with Poland: the date has been named.
The Ukrainian-Polish border will soon receive a new road crossing point, Nyzhankovychy - Malchovychi.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on December 17.
The new crossing point will start operating on December 20 and will be available for passenger and freight transport.
The pedestrian crossing will begin after the relevant infrastructure is built.
The agreement to open the crossing point was approved by the governments of Ukraine and Poland on December 17.
The Prime Minister believes that the opening of the new crossing point will reduce the load on existing points and contribute to Ukrainian exports.
The crossing point is located in the Sambir district.
Construction of 'Nyzhankovychy - Malchovychi' began in September 2021.
The works were intended for the passage of empty commercial vehicles with a total weight of over 7.5 tons.
It was expected that Poland would complete the construction of the crossing by 2024, and the throughput would be expanded for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tons.
As of October 1, preparations for the crossing point began, suspending customs procedures and the passage of transport in this section.
Ukraine plans to increase the capacity of the western border by 2030.
