Ukrainian forces captured Russian soldiers with the aim of exchanging them for Ukrainian civilians.
Explaining the data, a colonel from the AFU noted that approximately 2,000 Russian soldiers were captured. Photos and videos confirm the large number of prisoners.
A military commandant's office was established in the territory of the Kursk region, which is under Ukrainian control.
About 100 soldiers from the Russian army voluntarily surrendered in Kursk.

Also captured were 102 servicemen of the 488th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces and the "Akhmat" unit.
The Ukrainian ombudsman held talks with the Russian human rights commissioner regarding the exchange of prisoners against the background of the AFU's advance in the Kursk region. Lubinets advocated for the seriously wounded, Ukrainian women, and all those remaining in captivity.
It is noted that the situation in the Kursk region forced Russia to initiate a prisoner exchange, which had not happened before.
The AFU also captured militants from the Kadyrov battalion "Akhmat".
