Search for a teenager continues in Odesa region: boy went missing after swimming in a storm

Search operations are ongoing on the central beach of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region for a teenager. The boy went swimming in stormy weather and did not return. Divers are surveying the seabed and the shoreline, but so far, there have been no results.

This was reported on Saturday, August 2, by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Odesa region.

Teenager searched for in Chornomorsk

It is noted that over 100,000 square meters of the seabed have been surveyed so far, including 47,000 with the help of an underwater drone. Additionally, 72 kilometers of coastline have been checked, including 60,000 square meters from an aerial drone. However, the boy has not yet been found.

It is recalled that on the evening of July 28, rescuers were informed about the disappearance of the boy born in 2009 at the beach in Chornomorsk. He went swimming in the restless sea and disappeared under the waves. Due to strong winds and storm, divers could not immediately begin the search, but rescue operations started the next day.

Storm at sea

The weather along the Odesa coastline is currently dangerous: strong winds and high waves. Some vacationers, despite the ban, continue to enter the water, sometimes even with children on inflatable mattresses. However, the waves easily overturn such devices, and the wind quickly carries them away from the shore.

Rescuers urge people to refrain from swimming in storms and especially avoid this with children, adhering to beach safety rules.

The search for the teenager who went missing while swimming in stormy weather continues in Chornomorsk. Divers are conducting intensive search operations to locate the missing teenager, but so far without success. The dangerous weather along the coastline remains a serious limitation for search operations and safe swimming for vacationers.
