“All consumers who were left without power due to the bad weather in Odesa region are now connected to the electricity supply. Energy workers restored power to 56.6 thousand households in 174 settlements of our region. Currently, there are no mass outages. Specialists are working on individual point requests. We thank the energy workers for their prompt and coordinated work, and the residents for their patience,” he wrote.
Consequences of the bad weather
Let us remind you that on September 30, record rains hit Odesa due to a slow-moving local cyclone that formed over the Black Sea. In just one day, 94 mm of precipitation fell in the city, which is 224% of the monthly norm.
Meteorologists note that the anticyclone delayed the cyclone's movement, leading to the strengthening of atmospheric fronts and local downpours. Due to the likelihood of flooding, the alert level was raised to red.
As a result of the elements, nearly 800 houses were damaged in Odesa, and the tragedy claimed the lives of 10 people. Rescue and municipal services are working continuously; over 3,000 people and 660 units of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences. Among the dead are employees of the Odesa Regional State Administration and 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.
The bad weather that struck Odesa region turned out to be one of the most serious in recent years. Restoring electricity supply is an important step towards normalizing life in the region, but there is still much work to be done on restoring infrastructure and assisting the affected. The situation remains under control, and local authorities continue to work on eliminating the aftermath of the disaster.
