A case of forgery of signatures and embezzlement of payments to low-income pensioners has been uncovered in the country. The head of the post office faces imprisonment for these crimes after the victims contacted law enforcement. The details of the case are revealed by the Main Department of the National Police in the Odesa region.

An employee of the post office in the Bolhrad district refused to pay pensioners the benefits they were entitled to. It turned out that she forged their signatures to embezzle their money and sent them fake reporting documents to convince them that she had already sent everything. The perpetrator thus stole over 194 thousand hryvnias intended for 31 pensioners.

What she faces

The woman has been informed of suspicion of abusing her official powers and forgery of documents. Now she faces up to 8 years in prison. Other violations have also been identified, including a police officer who took bribes for crossing during curfew, and teenagers who shot at a homeless person.
