Ukrainian Artist Killed in the War.
In the frontline zone, a young Ukrainian artist Artem Kovbasynskyi, who worked at the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre, was killed. He was only 24 years old. This became known on September 27. The news of his death was officially confirmed by the theatre on its Facebook page.
«Unfortunately, not everyone returns from the war. We received the painful news that in Ukraine, on the battlefield, the former ballet artist of the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre Artem Kovbasynskyi was killed» - said in the post.
According to friends, Artem decided to return to his homeland from Lithuania in the early days of the war. He said he could not live peacefully with his beloved girlfriend in Klaipeda while his country needed protection. The artist himself said about his decision to go to the front like this:
«I must return to my country and defend it from the invaders. It is my duty both to the homeland and to my loved ones who remained there. But this decision was difficult, I won’t hide it.»
About Artem Kovbasynskyi
In 2019, Artem's parents enrolled him in a professional dance school, where he obtained a choreographer's diploma. After graduation, he began working in a ballet troupe and decided to move to Lithuania.
After the war began, Artem immediately decided to join the fight for his country. The young man began learning to shoot as he had never had any military training before. In Lithuania, he found people who helped him acquire military uniforms, equipment, and first aid kits. He brought all of this to Brovary, his hometown. There he underwent training and went to the front, where he tragically died.
It is worth mentioning that Taras Illya, the son of Ukrainian poets Valentyna Otroshchenko and Valeriy Illya, who also wrote poems and was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine just a few months ago, died at the front. Also killed was Ukrainian weightlifting champion Nina Pashkevych.
