Rio sets world record: the largest New Year's Eve party on the planet.
According to ТСН: Brazil plans to finish 2025 with a grand celebration, transforming Copacabana beach into a massive dance floor to welcome the New Year. This celebration will be the largest in the world.
Official record
The Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, received a certificate from the Guinness World Records during the festive events. The title of 'The Largest New Year's Eve Party in the World' was awarded to the city after a detailed check of the preparations and scale of the event, expecting over 2.5 million people to gather on the coast.
A show like no other
The organizers have prepared an incredible program 'Reveillon-2026' to match the new status:
Fire Rain: Fireworks will be launched from 19 barges (a record number), which will be located at sea. The show will last 12 minutes without interruption.
Technology: In addition to pyrotechnics, 1200 drones will fly over the ocean, creating light sculptures.
Unprecedented security
Organizing such a large number of people in one place poses a security challenge. The city authorities have implemented modern technologies: 700 cameras will monitor the crowd, of which 307 are installed directly on Copacabana. Some of these cameras are equipped with facial recognition systems to ensure a safe celebration.
New Year's celebrations in Rio de Janeiro are famous for their vibrant traditions and grand shows. By transforming Copacabana beach into the largest dance platform, the city aims to showcase its culture and hospitality to the world. As they prepare for such a large-scale event, the organizers also emphasize ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants.
