A World Record Elevator: Scaling 95 Floors in Just 43 Seconds.
The World's Fastest Elevator
According to TSN.ua: The Guangzhou CTF Financial Centre in China is now home to the world's fastest elevator. This engineering marvel, installed in the 530-meter skyscraper which opened in 2016, can reach speeds of up to 1200 meters per minute, or roughly 72 km/h (45 mph). The tower itself comprises 111 floors above ground and five basement levels. Such high-speed vertical transport is becoming essential in the world's densest urban centers.
Technology and Innovation
The building is serviced by a total of 95 elevators, including double-decker cabins, high-speed, and standard models. Two express elevators from Hitachi can whisk passengers from the first floor to the 95th in a mere 43 seconds. This feat surpasses the previous speed record of 61 km/h held by the elevators in Taipei 101. The system's efficiency and safety are ensured by slim synchronous motors, compact traction mechanisms, aerodynamic cab designs, specialized brake pads, and an active guide roller system. For passenger comfort, the high-speed cabs are also pressurized.
The installation of the world's fastest elevator at the Guangzhou CTF Financial Centre underscores China's significant advancements in engineering and technology.
This development highlights the growing global demand for rapid vertical transit in supertall buildings, a key factor for modern urban infrastructure. The implementation of such cutting-edge technologies in the elevator industry is likely to drive further innovations, enhancing both passenger comfort and safety in the years to come.
