Attack on Kurshyna: Zelensky explains what Ukraine is trying to force Russia into.
Ukraine is trying to force Russia to peace in the Kurshyna region, - Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is conducting a military operation in the Kurshyna region in order to force Russia to peace. He noted this during his interview with Indian journalists.
According to the president, Ukraine is not the aggressor, but Russia invaded Ukrainian territory 10 years ago. Zelensky also stressed that the main goal of this operation is to achieve a just peace.
The Kurshyna operation helped Ukraine avoid losing positions and the occupation of Sumy. The president emphasized that one of the stages of the operation was taking the initiative from Russia, though it was difficult without the support of partners.
Zelensky did not disclose all the goals of the attack on Kurshyna and noted that everything would become clear after the operation is completed.
The Kurshyna operation had a broader purpose
According to The Wall Street Journal, the attack on the Kurshyna region aimed not only to shake Russia and attract Western support for Ukraine, but also to demonstrate the vulnerability of the Russian army. President Zelensky confirmed that this attack sent an important signal to Kiev's allies.
It is worth recalling that the president also signed laws related to the status of Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the territory of Russia.
