According to inkorr.com: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte explained how the Alliance responds to cases of air corridor violations by Russia. He emphasized that all decisions are made based on operational intelligence and threat assessment.
During a speech at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Rutte noted that responses to violations occur in real time, taking all circumstances into account.
'Decisions on the use of force against violators, including shooting them down, are made in real time based on received information about threats,' Rutte explained.
The NATO Secretary General also emphasized that intentions of the violator, presence of weapons, and potential consequences for the Alliance, civilian population, and infrastructure are considered when making such decisions.
Rutte added that European NATO forces are equipped with all necessary means and authority to make such decisions.
He also reiterated NATO's principles for responding to violations of air corridors and the importance of timely reaction to all factors and threats.
