Training in Vocational Technical School — When it Provides the Right to Deferment.
Deferment for Training in a Vocational School
A conscripted citizen approached the lawyers, planning to enroll in the professional-technical school after finishing school while being in the status of conscription.
The man inquired whether he could apply for a deferment from mobilization in this situation.
'Yes, you can obtain a deferment, as you will be pursuing a level of education higher than the one you have previously acquired',
— assured the citizen by lawyer Yuriy Aivazyan.
A deferment is provided to the conscripted even during training in a vocational technical school.
Educational Levels in Ukraine
Aivazyan explained what educational levels are present in the Ukrainian system.
These are:
- preschool education;
- primary education;
- basic secondary education;
- profile secondary education;
- first (initial) level of vocational education;
- second (basic) level of vocational education;
- third (higher) level of vocational education;
- qualified pre-higher education;
- initial level (short cycle) of higher education;
- first (bachelor's) level of higher education;
- second (master’s) level of higher education;
- third (educational-scientific/educational-creative) level of higher education.
So, as we can see, the initial level of vocational education is higher than that of secondary education. Therefore, admission to a vocational technical school after school does not violate the rule of the sequence of acquired education. It is important to keep these different levels of education in mind when applying for a deferment for training.
