Polish President Nawrocki on Relations with Ukraine: Partnership with Requirements.
According to ТСН: Relations between Ukraine and Poland are transitioning to a stage of pragmatism. This is evidenced by the words of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who commented on the results of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Warsaw at the end of 2025.
Nawrocki expressed his position in an interview with radio station RMF24.
A Common Enemy Unites
The Polish president noted that there has been a 'new discovery' between the countries. He emphasized that the visit of the Ukrainian president demonstrates the importance of good-neighborly relations for Kyiv. The basis of cooperation remains the issue of security.
“Our common strategic interest in the face of the threat from the Russian Federation is obvious — and this is one of the few matters that unite me, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and the current government,” said Nawrocki.
“Partnership with Requirements”
Meanwhile, the Polish president emphasized that the 'new discovery' should not remain only on paper. It should mean real partnership relations, taking into account the interests of both sides.
“Partnership is evident in my contacts with President Zelensky, but for the first time, specific expectations from the Polish side regarding Ukraine are being voiced,” he stated.
Nawrocki clearly outlined his role in these negotiations.
“I believe that my duty as the President of Poland is to speak for the Poles, regardless of whether we are talking to Ukraine, Germany, or Israel,” he noted.
The politician also added that there are 'unresolved issues' in bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland (possibly relating to complex issues of historical memory and economic discrepancies).
“Within our partnership, I demand that these matters be addressed,” Nawrocki summarized.
It is also worth noting that Donald Tusk predicts a possible end to the war in the coming weeks. The Polish Prime Minister emphasized the importance of uniting international partners and potential compromises regarding territorial issues.
These statements reflect a change in the perception of bilateral relations and underscore Poland's desire for constructive dialogue with Ukraine. In the face of current security challenges, common interests can become the basis for closer cooperation.
