New 2026 Pension Supplement for Ukrainian Retirees Supporting Children.
Additional Pension Supplements for Ukrainian Retirees in 2026
According to Novyny.live: Starting in 2026, Ukrainian pensioners who are not employed and who provide for children or grandchildren will be eligible for a new monthly pension supplement. This initiative is part of broader social support measures in Ukraine. The payment will be 150 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH) per child or grandchild, offering significant additional financial assistance to this demographic.
The monthly supplement will be paid to retirees who are the primary providers for children or grandchildren under the age of 18. Payments will continue until the child turns 18, provided the pensioner remains unemployed. Recipients are legally required to inform the Pension Fund of any change in their employment status. Failure to report such a change and the subsequent receipt of overpayments will obligate the pensioner to return the excess funds.
Financial Aid for Vulnerable Population Groups
Furthermore, the state provides additional financial support to pensioners who have become disabled due to the war and to combat veterans. In 2026, this supplementary payment will be set at 25% of the official subsistence minimum for disabled persons, which will amount to 647 UAH per month at the time of disbursement. These measures aim to improve the living standards of vulnerable segments of the population.
To apply for the new child-support supplement, pensioners will need to prepare specific documentation, including:
- Work record book
- Tax identification number
- Ukrainian citizen passport
- Birth certificate of the child or grandchild
- Certificate from local authorities or housing management
This new policy is designed to assist retirees who take on the responsibility of raising the younger generation.
The introduction of additional payments for pensioners supporting children or grandchildren is a crucial step in aiding vulnerable population groups. It will not only improve the retirees' own financial situation but also help ensure better conditions for raising children. These measures are expected to help reduce social inequality and enhance the quality of life for families where grandparents serve as the primary caregivers.
