Netanyahu admits for the first time that Israel is behind the pager attacks on Hezbollah.
In September, the pagers and radios of Hezbollah terrorist group members exploded en masse. This was reported by The Times of Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted for the first time that Israel was behind it.
It is noted that Netanyahu made these admissions at a weekly cabinet meeting. He stated: "The operation using pagers and the elimination of the Hezbollah leader was carried out despite opposition from some individuals in the political and defense establishment".
It is mentioned that the pagers exploded following continuous rocket attacks on Israel by Hezbollah, which began the day after clashes with Hamas in October 2023. These attacks led to the evacuation of about 60,000 residents from northern Israeli towns near the border with Lebanon.
The Times of Israel also notes that Netanyahu referred to recently dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant when speaking of opposition in the defense department.
