According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of March 19, Odesa came under a kamikaze drone assault that left residential buildings, vehicles, and civilians harmed. The attack caused widespread damage across the city’s infrastructure, notably affecting homes in three separate districts. A three-story and a two-story building were partially destroyed, while apartments in a 21-story and a 25-story high-rise also sustained damage.
Over 20 cars were damaged in the strike. Four civilians were wounded: two women, aged 46 and 69, were hospitalized; a 31-year-old man received treatment at the scene; and later reports confirmed a 25-year-old male victim. The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal investigation under Article 438, Part 1 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which addresses war crimes.
Victims’ Accounts
Survivors shared their experiences of the assault:
- Maryna, 46, who was injured, recounted:
“We were asleep when the explosion happened. Windows and furniture shattered, and the ceiling collapsed on me.”
- Another victim, Oleksandra, said:
“This was our showroom, and now it’s gone. Everything is destroyed—inside and out—and the merchandise is damaged too.”
The drone attack on Odesa has caused significant destruction and sparked deep concern among city residents. Authorities are working to address the aftermath and provide support to those affected.
