Deadly Drone Strike in Zaporizhzhia

According to UATV: In the early hours of June 17, 2023, the city of Zaporizhzhia came under attack from Russian combat drones. The assault left one person dead and seven others wounded. Five unmanned aerial vehicles hit residential neighborhoods, causing widespread destruction. A private home was completely leveled, and a three-story office building was half destroyed. Additionally, five apartment blocks and several private houses sustained damage.

The attack also affected Zaporizhzhia National University, where one of its buildings was damaged. Across Ukraine, a total of 119 attack drones targeted 11 different locations. Rescue crews are currently on the scene, working to manage the aftermath of the strike.

Rescue worker Anastasia Zhytnykova reported on the incident, stating, “Rescuers are currently working at the site of the enemy strike.” City authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and follow safety protocols amid the ongoing threat from drone attacks. This nighttime assault underscores the persistent danger faced by people in the region.

This attack is part of the continuing aggressive campaign in Ukraine, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia area, where civilians still face serious threats from hostile forces.
