On the night of June 23, Russian forces launched a strike on Zaporizhzhya and the surrounding district, causing civilian casualties, multiple fires, and damage to homes and cars. By 1:06 AM local time, several fires had been reported in the city, highlighting the scale of the assault.
A vehicle service station was hit at around 1:45 AM. Mayor Ivan Fedorov confirmed the damage, stating:
“The shelling damaged a vehicle service station.”The situation escalated further when, at 2:01 AM, private residences and farm buildings in the Zaporizhzhya district were struck, resulting in significant property loss.
Two elderly individuals—a 73-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman—sought medical assistance after the attack. Additionally, at 5:48 AM, a fire broke out in a private parking lot, destroying cars and injuring one person. Mayor Fedorov also reported:
“As a result of the shelling, cars caught fire in a private parking lot.”
This incident underscores the prolonged and severe nature of the war in Ukraine, which continues to endanger civilians. The victims, including senior citizens, reflect the daily hardships faced by local residents.
