Drone Assault on Ukrainian Airspace

According to TSN.ua: In a major overnight operation on February 17, 2026, Russian forces launched a coordinated drone attack against Ukraine. Approximately 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were simultaneously active in the skies, targeting multiple regions including Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kropyvnytskyi, and areas around Kyiv. This represents one of the largest and most widespread drone assaults of the conflict, highlighting the evolving nature of aerial warfare.

Several groups of hostile UAVs were tracked moving toward Kryvyi Rih from the Kherson region. Separate formations of attack drones were detected in eastern Kharkiv oblast, heading in the direction of Poltava. Simultaneously, enemy drones advanced toward Odesa from the Black Sea.

Additional hostile UAVs were recorded moving toward Kropyvnytskyi from the east, as well as groups originating from Sumy and Kharkiv regions via Poltava. Further drone movements were observed traveling through Kherson and northeastern Mykolaiv oblast toward Kirovohrad. The final wave involved enemy UAVs in the Orzhytisia area, moving through Cherkasy toward the Kyiv region.

Impact of the Attack

This large-scale assault is part of the ongoing escalation in the war, where drones have become a critical and persistent tool for long-range strikes. Given the scale and coordination of the attack, the situation in the affected regions remains tense, requiring heightened alertness from Ukrainian military and civilian defense services.

Such events underscore the urgent need for bolstering air defense systems and maintaining constant vigilance over Ukraine's airspace to counter these evolving threats.
