Russia Intensifies Terror Against Civilians, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Warns After New Casualties.
Statement by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
According to UATV: Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has warned that Russia is escalating its terror campaign against civilians as it fails to achieve its objectives on the battlefield. According to him, the recent Russian attacks have resulted in numerous civilian deaths.
Targeting Innocent Lives
On June 9, 2023, Sybiha reported on Russia’s ongoing terror against non-combatants. In Chuhuiv, at least three people were killed in Russian strikes, including a 22-year-old pregnant woman. In Zaporizhzhia, shelling killed at least two people and wounded over 13 others, among them children. In Chernihiv, Russian forces struck a truck delivering bread, injuring a 55-year-old driver.
Sybiha also noted that since the full-scale invasion began, Russia has committed more than 200,000 war crimes in Ukraine. He urged the international community not to overlook the scale of Russian terror, emphasizing that
“the world must not ignore the scale of Russian terror”— Andrii Sybiha. The minister stressed the need to hold Russia accountable and called on the world to increase pressure on the Russian regime.
These remarks from Ukraine’s top diplomat highlight the grave security situation in the country, where civilians continue to fall victim to military hostilities. The rising number of attacks on innocent people has alarmed the global community, potentially spurring stronger diplomatic efforts to pressure Moscow. The push for accountability over war crimes also underscores the urgent need for international cooperation to ensure justice and protect civilians in conflict zones.
