German Auto Club ADAC Reveals Child Car Seat Rankings: Popular Model Ranks Worst.
ADAC Child Car Seat Safety Study
According to Novyny.live: Germany's renowned automobile club, ADAC, has released the findings of a comprehensive safety assessment of 26 child car seat models. The testing revealed that the Kinderkraft Mink Pro 2 + Base Mink FX2 performed the worst, scoring 5.5 points. This outcome underscores a critical insight: a higher price tag does not automatically guarantee better protection, as the seats evaluated ranged in cost from €70 to €500.
Top-Performing Child Car Seats
Among the models that fared better, the Kinderkraft Junior Fix 2 i-Size stood out, ranking fifth with a 'good' rating at a price of just €75. Meanwhile, the Silver Cross Approach Plus 360 + Base Plus 360, despite its steep cost of €578, landed only in 11th place.
The study also featured several other models that earned either 'good' or 'satisfactory' marks. For instance:
- Foppapedretti Disk Infant i-Size + Tech i-Size achieved a 'good' score of 1.9 points;
- Silver Cross Glide Plus 360 scored 2.4 points, also rated 'good';
Models that received 'satisfactory' ratings included:
- Bugaboo Otter by Nuna with a score of 2.6 points;
- Maxi-Cosi Topaz i-Size with a score of 3.2 points;
The ADAC research highlights the importance of verifying child car seat safety before making a purchase, as test results can vary widely regardless of the product's cost. This is especially relevant for English-speaking parents who often rely on brand reputation or price as indicators of quality.
These findings could significantly influence parents' decisions as they seek safe solutions for transporting their children.
Given that many parents might assume pricier models offer superior safety, this study demonstrates the need to look beyond the price tag and consider independent test outcomes. Doing so can help reduce risks and ensure greater protection for children during car journeys.
