A number of MPs want to repeal the law on NABU — how is this possible.
People's deputies are preparing to submit a request to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for the repeal of law №12414, which provides for the subordination of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) to the Office of the Prosecutor General. At the same time, the initiators plan to register a separate bill that cancels the controversial provisions of the adopted law.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram on Wednesday, July 23.
Repeal of the law
According to Zheleznyak, signatures will soon begin to be collected in the Verkhovna Rada in support of the submission — for this, at least 45 votes from parliamentarians are needed.
The MP emphasized that during the adoption of the law, a number of procedural violations were recorded, allowing it to be challenged in the Constitutional Court.
'We are preparing a constitutional submission. It will take some time to make it as high-quality as possible. There are already precedents where laws were repealed due to violations. Here, the authorities conducted it as dirty as possible through the hall',
At the same time, MPs are calling on their colleagues to sign an alternative bill that cancels all the controversial norms of law №12414 regarding NABU and SAP. It has already appeared in the State Registry under registration number №170768.
'A good chance to correct the nonsense that 263 colleagues adopted yesterday',
The deputy also urged citizens to contact their representatives and ask if they supported the initiative. According to him, the struggle for the preservation of the independence of anti-corruption institutions continues and will not end with yesterday's vote.
'And the publicity. The calculation of the OP is that everyone will forget by today. I think they did not expect such a reaction as yesterday',
Recall that on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the draft law №12414, which provides for the change of subordination of anti-corruption bodies. From now on, NABU and SAP will operate under the coordination of the Office of the Prosecutor General. On the night of June 23, the law on NABU and SAP came into force.
