Poland introduces biometric control at the border: delays expected

According to inkorr.com: The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) has warned citizens that crossing the border into Poland will take more time due to the new recording system. This process involves the collection of biometric data, which may cause delays during processing, especially at the beginning of the implementation. This information was reported by the spokesperson of the SBGS, Colonel Andriy Demchenko.

Implementation of the new system in the Schengen area

A new system is planned to be implemented in all Schengen countries within the European Union. Currently, Poland has already begun testing to ensure operational efficiency and avoid queues in the future. It is expected that the time for crossing the border may increase due to the mandatory recording of biometric data, especially for pedestrians and motorists.

According to Demchenko, as of Thursday morning, there were no large queues at the border. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that the Polish Senate has supported the bill regarding the status of Ukrainian refugees and conditions for social assistance unchanged. This document awaits the signature of President Karol Nawrocki before coming into effect.

Polish Deputy Minister of the Interior Maciej Duszczyk expressed hope that the president would sign the bill in its current form. He emphasized that the government and the president share the same position on issues of healthcare, legal residence, access to the labor market, and restrictions on family benefits.

Expectations for changes at the border

The implementation of the new system at the border with Poland may lead to delays in processing. Meanwhile, the bill on the status of Ukrainian refugees and social assistance conditions is gaining support in the Polish Senate and may soon be signed by the president.

Considering the innovations might change the border crossing procedures, Ukrainians should plan their trips in advance. The timely adoption of the bill regarding Ukrainian refugees could also positively affect the social support for citizens currently in Poland. Taking these changes into account, it is important to keep up with the news to stay informed about updates.
