Ukraine Announces New Social Payment: Millions Eligible for 1500 Hryvnia.
New Social Support Program in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a new social support initiative for Ukrainian citizens. This program, which is to be prepared by the Ministry of Social Policy for an April rollout, is expected to provide a special payment of 1500 hryvnias to at least 13 million people. This measure comes as the country continues to navigate significant economic challenges.
Zelenskyy stated that he had "agreed with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Sviridenko, and Ministers Oleksii Sobolev and Denys Ulutin to prepare several support programs for Ukrainians."
Funds from this new program are intended to reach people without bureaucratic hurdles, being automatically credited to those whose income levels indicate a need for this support.
Payments for Pensioners and Citizens
The program will also include a special supplement for pensioners and citizens receiving social assistance. Age-related supplements for pensioners are as follows:
- Those aged 65 with a full work record will receive 3458.8 hryvnias;
- Pensioners aged 70 and over will receive supplements ranging from 300 to 570 hryvnias.
Furthermore, in March 2026, most Ukrainian pensioners will see their payments indexed by 12.1%.
This initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening the social safety net for Ukrainians, particularly amid ongoing economic instability. The proposed payments could substantially improve the living standards for many citizens, especially pensioners and low-income individuals in need of additional financial aid.
