Zero Day and Restart: The Armed Forces of Ukraine Updated the Basic Military Training Program.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have updated the basic military training program.
The Ministry of Defense reports that the training program for mobilized soldiers in training centers in Ukraine has been updated. The fifth edition of the program places emphasis on the psychological preparation of fighters while maintaining the overall duration of the course at one and a half months.
The process of improving the previous version of the program, taking into account proposals from elite combat military units, was led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Oleg Apostol.
The Ministry of Defense reminded that from November 1, 2024, the term of basic general military training (BGMT) is 1.5 months. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has developed a corresponding training program for its implementation. It was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the end of the year and comes into effect on February 10, 2025.
The updated BGMT program includes the following innovations: the introduction of a 'zero day'/‘restart day’, enhanced psychological training, learning of software 'Kropiva', expanding the medical assistance training course, and including 'marching' training to build soldiers' endurance.
The program also includes an introductory course, individual training, training actions as part of a unit, and a comprehensive tactical exercise.
After successfully completing the training, soldiers receive a certificate and class qualification for VOS-100 'shooter'. The next stage of training involves professional courses according to the defined positions in combat units.
President Zelensky announced the introduction of special contracts for young soldiers with increased pay.
