Some of these military personnel had been in Russian captivity since 2022.

Humanitarian efforts and a symbol of hope

The process of exchanging prisoners is an important component of humanitarian activities in conditions of conflict. It is noted that the Ukrainian side continues to work on the return of all its defenders. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating:

“We remember everyone who is still in captivity. And we will continue to work until all our people return home.” - Ihor Klymenko

This exchange has become a symbol of hope for many families who were waiting for the return of their loved ones. The operations for exchanging prisoners demonstrate the efforts of Ukrainian officials to ensure the safety and rights of servicemen who have become victims of the conflict.

The prisoner exchange is an important element within the framework of humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering caused by war. The noted stage of the Geneva agreements indicates the intentions of both parties to continue dialogue and seek ways for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
