Ombudsman reported on the most common complaints of military personnel.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported on the most common complaints from military personnel to him. Among these complaints, the most frequent are the denial of leave and the non-payment of funds after injuries. In 2024, the ombudsman received about 4 thousand complaints, each of which received a legal response. In addition, military personnel also often complain about the illegal actions of their commanders.

Regarding the situation in the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lubinets cannot name the number of those injured as a result of violent actions by commanders, as this is confidential investigation information. However, he confirmed that he had received appeals regarding this situation since September of the current year, and an inspection is currently being conducted regarding this appeal as well as previous ones.

It is known that there were abuses against soldiers in the leadership of the 211th pontoon bridge brigade, money was demanded, beatings occurred, and threats were made. The situation prompted a loud reaction within the brigade. One of the soldiers reported that he was tied to a wooden cross and beaten. Vladislav Pastukh and Oleg Poberezhniuk were made responsible for these abuses.

Despite the great resonance, a criminal proceeding regarding these facts was not opened. Instead, the prosecutor's office investigated the case of the failure to draw up administrative protocols against military personnel. To verify the information about the abuse of soldiers in the 211th brigade, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine sent a commission from the Military Law Enforcement Service with a refusal.
