Polar Bears Seized Soviet Base on the Island: Unique Footage.
Polar Bears Have Appeared on Kolyuchin
According to The Sun: Drone footage showed that the former Soviet island fortress has become a new home for polar bears. These fearsome predators have invaded Kolyuchin Island in the Chukchi Sea of Russia, where dozens of bears wander among the ruins of an abandoned meteorological station.
The island has been uninhabited since the early 1990s, following the fall of the Soviet regime.
“Polar bears have become the primary inhabitants of the island, taking over territory that used to serve humans,” researchers note.
The former military base has now become a habitat for these magnificent animals, which impress with their ability to adapt to new conditions.
The appearance of polar bears on Kolyuchin indicates changes in the region's ecosystem. These transitions reflect not only the adaptation of the bears but also the impact of human activity on ecological changes. It also raises questions about wildlife conservation and protecting animals in new environmental conditions.
