Extra Pension Payments for Mothers of Many Children

According to Novyny.live: Starting in 2026, women who have raised at least five children to the age of six will qualify for a monthly pension supplement. This bonus is expected to surpass 1,000 hryvnias. The initiative aims to provide financial relief for mothers of large families during their retirement years.

Eligibility and Requirements

Under the updated regulations, women who have given birth to or adopted five or more children can apply for this additional pension payment. The monthly amount will be tied to the cost of living, which is set at 2,595 hryvnias as of January 1, 2026. Consequently, the supplement will range from 35% to 40% of that figure, translating to between 908 and 1,038 hryvnias each month.

To receive the benefit, applicants must visit a service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine with a formal request and the required documentation. The necessary papers include:

  • a passport;
  • records confirming insurance history;
  • a taxpayer identification number (registration card);
  • birth certificates for the children or official adoption documents.

Additionally, mothers of large families can opt for early retirement at age 50 if they have at least 15 years of insurance coverage. This provision further strengthens social protections for women who have dedicated their lives to child-rearing. Overall, these new rules create more favorable conditions for large families in Ukraine.

These legislative changes reflect the government's effort to address the needs of mothers with many children, who often encounter financial challenges. The introduction of a pension supplement and the option for early retirement could significantly improve social security for women raising families, offering them extra support in later life. This also marks an important step in implementing policies aimed at assisting families with children across Ukraine.
