Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia: new conditions from Zelensky
The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is set to begin on Monday, May 12, under new conditions from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. If Russia does not stop fire completely and unconditionally, new sanctions will threaten it. This was announced following the meeting of the 'Coalition of the Resolute.'
Zelensky insists on a complete and unconditional cessation of fire for at least 30 days from Russia, in cooperation with the United States of America. He emphasized that this must happen without any conditions to avoid prolonging the war.

The president stressed that the ceasefire must cover air, sea, and land spaces. He also mentioned the possibility of joint monitoring of this process with the USA to create a space for diplomacy.
The main priority remains strengthening Ukraine's defense and security, as well as supporting the peacekeeping contingent. In case of Russia's refusal to cease fire, enhanced sanctions against its energy sector and banking system are envisaged.
Zelensky also announced the continuation of work on the effective use of frozen Russian assets together with partners, which will be discussed at the G7 summit. European leaders are ready to impose tough sanctions against Russia in case of violation of the ceasefire.
