Putin again demands to block Ukraine's NATO membership: what Zelensky responded.
According to ТСН: The Kremlin once again discussed the issue of Ukraine's NATO membership. As noted by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, this issue requires "special discussion".
According to information from Russian media, Peskov said:
"The question of guarantees regarding Kyiv's non-joining of NATO is one of the cornerstones, it requires special discussion."
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky previously spoke about a possible compromise regarding Ukraine's NATO membership. He emphasized that Ukraine's aspiration to become a member of the Alliance remained one of its main priorities, but it had not received full support from allies.
Zelensky noted that bilateral security guarantees are especially important, particularly:
"Therefore today, bilateral security guarantees between Ukraine and the USA, namely Article 5-like guarantees from the USA for us, and security guarantees from European colleagues for us, as well as from other countries, Canada, Japan, etc., these security guarantees for us are an opportunity to prevent another wave of Russian aggression. And this is already a compromise on our part."
This situation reflects the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the importance of international commitments regarding the security architecture of Europe. Ukraine's NATO membership remains a topic of active discussions not only in Ukraine but also among Western partners, as security issues remain at the forefront due to Russia's aggressive actions.
