Combatants will be able to secure a government job without an interview and knowledge of a language: details of the draft law.
Important benefits are planned for veterans in Ukraine. This concerns the cancellation of requirements for mandatory interviews and proficiency in a foreign language for public service employment.
“Judicial and Legal Newspaper” reports.
The Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy has recommended adopting the revised draft law 13180-d in its first reading regarding the mechanism for employing and maintaining the income level of combatants (including those with war disability status) after demobilization.
This draft was previously announced by the head of the social committee, Halyna Tretyakova. According to her, it is proposed to remove the interview as a necessary component of the competition during the employment of veterans in public service. Until the resumption of competitions for public service, such employment for vacant positions for veterans is to be done automatically based on an application, provided that their education meets the requirements.
Changes for military personnel
The initiative's authors propose to amend the Law 'On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection'. Important changes for veterans are also provided in the Law 'On Civil Service' and the Law 'On the Legal Regime of Martial Law'.
- Article 1 is supplemented with provisions on promoting the employment of demobilized veterans;
- A new article on employment mechanisms and the introduction of monthly scholarships for veterans for the first 2 years after demobilization is established, provided they gain employment in public service, municipal bodies, or the private sector.
- Establishing priority rights for occupying positions in case of equal results in competitive selection for public positions;
- Cancelling the requirement for mandatory interviews as a subjective factor in assessing professional competence;
- Cancelling the obligation to know a foreign language for veterans during employment in public service.
If this law is adopted, it will be in effect for 5 years from the moment it comes into force.
Ukrainian legislation can contribute to supporting combatants and veterans, which can significantly ease their social integration and adaptation to peaceful life.
