One of the marines who participated in the defense of Mariupol received serious injuries and was taken captive, where his condition significantly worsened: his weight dropped to 66 kilograms, and fragments in his head, legs, and chest posed a threat to his life. After returning home, Ivan immediately received support from 'Heart of Azovstal'.

'He had fragments near vascular and nerve bundles and even near major vessels in the popliteal area. Such surgeries are always high-risk,' says Igor Shmygol, head of the orthopedics and trauma department at the medical center 'Adonis', which is a partner of 'Heart of Azovstal'.

All previous surgical interventions were successful, and the last operation was performed at the Heart Institute, where a shard near the heart was removed.
