After Vuhledar: Military Analyst Identified New Challenges for Ukraine.
For more than two years, the defense of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region continued. During this time, some Russian brigades suffered losses, but this did not prevent them from entering the city. According to military analyst Denis Popovych, the Kremlin is ready to pay with the lives of its soldiers to advance.
According to him, there is information about preparing an offensive on Bohoyavlenka, the next settlement north of Vuhledar. Taking this direction will give Russian occupiers a logistical advantage.
The capture of Vuhledar allowed the enemy to displace Ukrainian forces from advantageous positions, from which it was possible to shell the Volnovakha district and the railway passing through this area. This route runs towards Mariupol and returns along the coast of the Sea of Azov through Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions towards Crimea. Occupying the main road will contribute to improving the logistics of the occupiers. Popovych believes that this may affect the actions of the Russian Federation on the southern front.
