Statement from Germany’s Defense Minister

According to UATV: Germany’s Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, has stated that Ukraine no longer requires the country’s Taurus cruise missiles. According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are already striking Russian infrastructure effectively. In an interview with Bild, he noted that the frontline situation remains largely stable, and Ukraine is achieving considerable success in its military operations.

'The situation has never looked as good as it does now.' Boris Pistorius

Pistorius acknowledged that there is almost no territorial progress on the battlefield, but emphasized that Ukraine is increasingly able to hit targets inside Russia, including destroying oil refineries and military logistics. Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, reported that in June, Ukrainian forces struck over 200,000 Russian targets—a sign of their significant operational advantage.

Outlook for Ukrainian Forces

The German defense minister thus expressed confidence in Ukraine’s ability to continue its successful fight without additional deliveries of Taurus cruise missiles.

This statement highlights a shift in how Ukraine’s military needs are assessed, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capacity for independent operations becomes increasingly evident. At the same time, Ukraine’s success in striking critical Russian infrastructure could influence the strategic decisions of other nations supplying weapons to Ukraine, as well as the future trajectory of the conflict.
