South Korea, USA, Japan Conduct Joint Air Exercises.
On Sunday, South Korea, the USA, and Japan conducted joint air exercises involving a B-1B bomber. These exercises took place after North Korea launched its ballistic missile into the East Sea.
During the exercises, the US bomber was accompanied by South Korean, US, and Japanese fighters in waters where the air defense identification zones of South Korea and Japan intersect, reported the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
Moreover, during the exercises, the bomber struck a simulated target, demonstrating its capabilities. The number of bombers involved was not specified.
The exercises were conducted in response to North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile. The JCS statement indicated that the trio of countries would enhance coordination to deter and jointly respond to North Korea's threats.
These are the second joint exercises of the three countries this year, aimed at strengthening security cooperation against North Korea's nuclear and missile threats.
