North Korea to send a new group of soldiers to Kursk - The New York Times.
According to a report by The New York Times, North Korea plans to send additional troops to the Kursk region to support the Russians over the next two months. According to an American official, the North Korean military employs specific combat tactics, including the use of decoy soldiers and grenade detonations.
Ukrainian soldiers, according to Ukrainian and American officials, have managed to adapt to these tactics. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the North Korean units deployed in Ukraine consist of about 500 officers, including three generals. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 4,000 out of 12,000 North Korean soldiers have already been killed in Kursk.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine presented a video of captured North Korean soldiers meeting with investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine, where the soldiers spoke about the significant losses their units are suffering in Kursk. ISW analysts predict that if high losses continue in the future, the contingent of North Korean troops in the Kursk region may be killed or wounded by mid-April 2025. The South Korean government plans to conduct consultations with Ukraine regarding the return of North Korean soldiers who have been captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
