The government has approved payments of 15 million to the families of fallen volunteers: conditions for receiving

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the mechanism for providing financial support to the families of those killed in the war with Russia. These are the rules under which the state provides material assistance, and the conditions under which these payments can be received.

How the state will provide material assistance

The family of the deceased volunteer must submit an application for payments via regular mail or email. It is important to send only one application and not duplicate documents that are already in state registers.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs has a duty to verify data, request information about previous payments, listen to applicants, and make decisions regarding payments.

'This is not a separate decision, but part of a systematic state policy formed with respect for the feats of Defenders and accountability to their families. We continue to build a state that does not abandon its own, but supports, protects, and honors them appropriately.'

Who can receive assistance and what amount is involved

Assistance can be received by members of the families of deceased and died Ukrainian volunteers who participated in repelling the aggression of the Russian regime during the war.

Payments to the families of military personnel who died are calculated depending on the time of death:

  • from February 24 to March 25 — without specifying the location;
  • from March 26 — if the death occurred in the area of combat operations.

The amount of payment is 15 million hryvnias, which is paid in parts over 40 months. Families are given the right to choose the most advantageous form of assistance, and if someone refuses to receive funds, this amount will be redistributed among other family members.

The decision of the Government of Ukraine to provide financial support to the families of fallen volunteers is an important step in creating a system of state support for war participants and their families, confirming the importance of careful treatment of the heroes who gave their lives for the country.
