Trump and Putin may announce a ceasefire: what it means for Ukraine.
Political technologist Oleg Posternak believes that possible negotiations between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will have specific consequences. According to him, the meeting of these leaders cannot end 'with nothing' due to high expectations from it.
The expert explained that a possible goal of such negotiations could be a 'temporary ceasefire' or a plan for a phased exit from the war. A likely scenario is a proposal from the USA for a cessation of hostilities, to which Russia might agree, allowing Ukraine to hold elections.
'This will be a limited temporary ceasefire or a phased approval of the exit from the war. The Americans formulated the argument that for holding elections, the Ukrainian authorities need a ceasefire,' Posternak noted.
For the USA, this is a matter of principle, while for Russia it could become a convenient tool for demonstrating diplomatic position. The meeting could lead to positive results for Ukraine, showing support for democracy and territorial integrity.
The meeting between Trump and Putin could have a significant impact on the situation in Ukraine and the military conflict in the east of the country. Therefore, it is important to closely monitor the further developments and possible consequences of such negotiations.
