Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the injury of a minor during the attempt to destroy enemy aerial targets by the military. This was reported by Kateryna Herasimuk, spokesperson of the State Bureau of Investigation's territorial administration in Khmelnytskyi.

Earlier, it was reported that in the Khmelnytskyi region, a minor was injured by an unknown serviceman, who, during the alarm, tried to shoot down enemy unmanned aerial vehicles of the 'Shahed' type.

In response to this message, Herasimuk explained that this event occurred at the end of August 2024, during another Russian attack. Around 10:30 AM, in one of the localities of the Khmelnytskyi region, a 12-year-old boy, while in his yard, was wounded by a machine gun. It was at this Time that mobile groups of military personnel from various military formations and units attempted to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles.

The spokesperson noted that the boy received a laceration to his right thigh, but his life is not in danger.

At present, necessary investigative actions are being carried out, all circumstances of the event are being clarified, the necessary examinations are being conducted, and the trajectory of the bullet is being established.

The general qualification of the offense is a violation of the rules for handling weapons (Part 1, Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The State Bureau of Investigation urges not to ignore air raid signals and to stay in shelters until they end.

As of August 27, the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Tyurin, reported that air defense forces destroyed four enemy targets. It was confirmed that, as a result of the attack, the 12-year-old child was injured and immediately hospitalized.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that since the beginning of 2024, Russia has used more than 6,130 unmanned aerial vehicles of the 'Shahed' type. Most of them were shot down by Ukrainian air defense.
