Corruption Case Hits Kyivzelenbud

According to Novyny.live: Two officials from the municipal association Kyivzelenbud are now under investigation for embezzling over 928,000 hryvnias during a capital repair project for a retaining wall in the Poznyaky park. According to investigators, the wall repair was never actually carried out, yet the officials signed off on falsified reports, implicating them in a corrupt scheme.

The city budget suffered losses exceeding 928,000 hryvnias as a result of these actions. The scheme was orchestrated in 2024 after a company won a tender worth 3.4 million hryvnias for the capital repair. Suspicion has been formally declared against a former deputy head of Kyivzelenbud and the head of the engineering support department.

Penalties and Ongoing Investigation

Under Articles 191 and 27 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the penalties could include up to 12 years in prison. Police are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals involved in this scheme. Law enforcement agencies are currently examining the case closely to prevent similar incidents in the future and hold all responsible parties accountable.

This case is part of a broader anti-corruption drive gaining momentum in Ukraine amid public administration reforms. Detecting and investigating such instances can be a crucial step toward restoring citizen trust in government bodies and ensuring more transparent use of budget funds. These incidents also highlight the need for tighter oversight of public procurement and contract execution.
