U.S. Ambassador to NATO discusses Ukraine's territorial concessions: what does it mean

The U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Vitaker believes that no major part of Ukrainian territory will be simply given up without a fight or without gaining it on the battlefield. He stressed that it is important to end the war, and a possible agreement could save thousands of lives. At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that any agreements must take into account the situation on the front.

The U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Vitaker spoke about this in a CNN interview.

Vitaker on Ukraine's territorial concessions

'No large areas will be simply given up if they have not been fought for or gained on the battlefield'
, Vitaker noted, commenting on possible territorial concessions of Ukraine in the context of the conflict with Russia.

The ambassador emphasized that ending the war is the main priority for all parties, and a potential agreement that leads to a cessation of hostilities could save the lives of thousands of Ukrainians.

'The war must end. And if this happens through the adoption of an agreement that saves thousands of lives, it will be a great achievement'
, the diplomat stated.

He also stressed that agreements must reflect the real situation on the front, and that the international community is closely monitoring developments, understanding that Ukraine is fighting not only for its borders but for the security of all Europe.

U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance stated that the administration is working on finding a compromise to establish a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. However, he emphasized that any possible conditions that could be agreed upon are unlikely to satisfy all parties.

Earlier, Senator Lindsey Graham stated that the complete removal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory is unlikely, and a possible outcome of agreements could be a land exchange.
