The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic has called for an end to the war in Ukraine by February 24.
According to ТСН: The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, believes that participants in the peace talks should aim to end the war in Ukraine by the anniversary of the Russian invasion. According to him, all parties must receive security guarantees.
Comment from the Prime Minister
Babiš made this statement after the first meeting of his government.
“It would be good if Mr. Trump, Macron, Merz, Starmer, Zelensky, and Putin could agree on a ceasefire and set such a goal, so that on this sad anniversary of Putin's aggression against Ukraine — February 24 — this war would be concluded, and all parties would receive security guarantees,” said the Czech Prime Minister.
He emphasized that the parties involved in the conflict should focus on discussing peace rather than just war.
Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine
Babiš also supported the idea of continuing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through EU mechanisms. He noted that preparations for the Euro Council meeting this week, as well as initiatives to freeze and confiscate Russian assets, are “dynamic.” The politician added that there is a separate proposal from the prime ministers of Italy, Belgium, and Bulgaria, although the details are not yet clear.
Negotiations between Ukraine and the USA
Recently, the second round of important negotiations between Ukraine and the USA regarding a peace plan took place in Berlin, but the results of the meeting are currently unknown.
According to estimates by BILD, the war in Ukraine could end by Christmas. Among the signs are the involvement of special envoys from US President Donald Trump, which indicates a possible compromise. At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has become more cautious in his statements regarding territories. In Europe, it is believed that Trump aims to announce “peace by Christmas.”
Thus, the Czech Prime Minister's calls for peace negotiations highlight the importance of international attention and cooperation in achieving stability in Ukraine. The issue of humanitarian aid remains topical, and the results of the recent negotiations between Ukraine and the USA may significantly impact the further development of the situation.
