Europe Must Show Strength, Says Latvian PM: No Room for Talks with Russia Now.
Latvia's Leader Speaks Out on Russia Strategy
According to UATV: Andris Kulbergs, the Prime Minister of Latvia, has argued that the current moment is not suitable for engaging in dialogue with Russia. He stressed that a peace agreement with Moscow remains highly unlikely and urged European nations to adopt a posture of strength.
'I do not believe in peace agreements, at least not now... We must have a unified approach—only then will there be no absurd ideas… Above all, we must trust ourselves. We need to display our strength.' — Andris Kulbergs
Emphasizing the critical importance of security, the Prime Minister announced that Latvia will maintain its enhanced border protection measures along the frontier with Russia. Kulbergs also highlighted the elevated security risks present at this border. In light of the current circumstances, Latvia is focused on ensuring stability and safeguarding its national interests.
Baltic States Share a Common Outlook
The views expressed by Kulbergs align with a broader trend across the Baltic nations, which are advocating for a more assertive security policy in response to growing threats from Russia. Latvia, along with its neighboring countries, continues to bolster its defense capabilities and collaborate with international allies—especially within NATO—to secure national safety and regional stability.
