Slovak Prime Minister: Negotiations Alone Can Bring the War to a Close

According to Novyny.live: Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stressed that ending the war is essential for Ukraine’s recovery, insisting that this can only happen through dialogue. He argued that reducing destruction is key to achieving peace, stating, 'less destruction means an easier reconstruction.' Fico emphasized that the devastating conflict 'has no military solution' and can only be resolved at the negotiating table.

Slovakia has been a strong supporter of Ukraine, hosting over 150,000 Ukrainians—roughly 2.6% of its own population. As part of their bilateral cooperation, a fourth joint meeting of the Ukrainian and Slovak governments is being planned. The two countries are also carrying out infrastructure projects worth around €100 million, highlighting their commitment to close collaboration amid the ongoing crisis.

Energy Cooperation

In the energy sector, Slovakia and Ukraine continue to work on building a new electricity interconnector between Veľké Kapušany and Mukachevo. Robert Fico remarked:
