The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption reports this.
Discrepancies in the Declaration
The NABU believes that Petro Obukhov provided inaccurate data regarding his income from entrepreneurial activities for 2023. The document states 5 million 24 thousand hryvnias, but the verification showed that the deputy earned 6 million 423 thousand 483 hryvnias.
Petro Obukhov explained to the agency that during the declaration formation, he was under different tax systems, so difficulties arose in calculations. In addition, the deputy indicated that he received 1 million 485 thousand hryvnias in dividends, while the NABU believes that the amount reached 2 million 366 thousand hryvnias. According to the politician's explanations, he entered information based on the movement of funds in his personal account and considered it accurate, so he did not request a certificate from the State Register of Taxpayers.
In total, the NABU reported violations amounting to 18 million 280.6 thousand hryvnias.
What else did NABU discover
According to the NABU, Petro Obukhov purchased shares of a closed non-diversified venture corporate investment fund MACROS for 16 million hryvnias. The deputy explained that he entered into an agreement with Oleksandr Kapitan regarding the acquisition of assets.
However, according to the NABU, the contract is not valid since the deputy entered into it as a private entrepreneur, not as a legal entity that has a broker's license. Also, according to the agency's position, Petro Obukhov did not indicate that he received 16 million from Kapitan. They were transferred in cash and later deposited into a bank account through an intermediary.
What is at stake
If the NABU's position is confirmed, the actions of the subject fall under Article 172-6 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (submission of inaccurate information in the declaration). According to the sanctions of the article, he faces a fine of up to 42,500 hryvnias.
Recall that hidden assets worth 7 million were found in the official of the TCC. Also about the inaccurate declaration of the secretary of the court in Odessa region.
The NABU suspects the Odessa City Council member of inaccurate income declaration, pointing to discrepancies in amounts and transactions that violate the law and may be punished with a fine of up to 42,500 hryvnias. Such situations are a recurring problem among Ukrainian officials and politicians, which may prompt regulators to tighten control over declarations and the reflection of incomes in the future.
